"Love - only to the God." Sri Brahmam
Love is one of the most frequently described components of life; love moves mountains, love is all that is worth living for. When the fundamental mistakes are shed, this imagination of love is understood as an attachment, dependence, or lack of the mind's freedom. The only emotional love that can be experienced on a higher level, temporarily, is love for the supreme principle, the giver of permanent happiness, the source of all, the God. Any other relationship means a confusion of the mind, entanglement in an imagination, and loss of tranquillity. Can one live in a relationship with another human being, then?
Understanding correctly what it is that love causes between people, these relationships can be secured much better without any binding internal attachments. Real love between two people can be characterised as a relationship based on mutual respect, devotion, trust and unreserve, protection and support, responsibility and fulfilling one's duties. A truly harmonious relationship can only develop if both the partners give up their individualities, their egos, replacing them with a united family individuality where the constituent parts fulfil their duties honestly. Real love must make the being forget own personal desires, and the contentment of others has to become the only desire. It is only the contentment of the entire family that a wise being derives contentment from.
By close examining the above described properties of a wise human relationship, we will find everything that one needs for a relationship with God and on the path toward Him. There is devotion, non-attachment, wisdom and peaceful abidance there. Wise love, and the only real love, means fulfilling one's duties and honest work for others, which gives life real meaning when the partner is well chosen. That is how the two people set off not only down the path of life together, but also down the spiritual path, the path to God and the ultimate wisdom.
You will surely ask, what about sexual pleasure? As elsewhere, you should not do anything for yourself, but for the other, therefore what you get will exceed your expectations, and you will never be disappointed and never disappoint the other. If you liberate yourself psychically in this way, you will get such a bodily experience that you can hardly imagine. But do not forget the important rule that applies to all sensual experiences, that is moderation, order, and absolute purity. Previous chapter Next chapter
