                  Cow day                  

Dear friends

We have finished another day of the Pongal Festival, the so-called Matt Pongal, or Celebration for Cows. Look for nothing pejorative in it, it is literally what is written. Cows are a symbol of wealth, contentment, peace and wisdom in India. Cows have always been the most precious wealth for the kingdom, for which war has taken place, and prey is counted in captured herds.
The celebration is done for live cows as well as stone cows. The first photo is from the decoration of the bull Nandina in Shiva's temple in Sri Ramana Ashram. Nandin is, as everyone knows, a vehicle of God Shiva and symbolizes the power of a spirit that can tame even the strength of an adult bull. Still, Shiva rides on him.
There are no student in the brahmin school, but there are 9 cows and calves more. They were returning from grazing during the day so that they would not lose anything. I was looking at the well and it is true that this year's monsoon was again inadequate. Fortunately, the rice is beautifully green, so perhaps there will be no shortage in this still very pious country.
Local guys liked my new bike so I locked it up. Then I found that they had picked up the sensor from the speedometer, but fortunately I found it. Pongal was already finished, so only the vadais, the dough from the urad dale and rice were fried. Then the ceremony was first to the gods of harvest and wisdom. Then the chosen Lakshmi cow, as last year, worshiped. It is a typical Indian type of cow and is now a good habit of mainly cultivating this species. Finally, the look into the face of a curious calf.
The last two pictures are from the decoration of the largest Nandin in Tiruvannamalai, which is in the Big Temple. He has all sorts of snacks on his neck, plus money and other valuables needed for a good life. There was supposed to be some celebration on the streets, about 6 pm. Nothing really happened at seven, so I went to the Great Temple for a while, where it was more calm and then to Sri Ramana Ashram, where the peace was real.
