             Swami Ramdas             

Svαmν Ramdas, 1884- 1963

      Swami Ramdas, often called Papa Ramdas or simply Papa, was born as Vittal Rao in 1884 in at Hosdrug, Kerala in Southern India. Having been inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda a Sri Ramakrishna. Then he initiated in the Lord Rama Mantra (Om Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram) by his father and the life of Vittal Rao was undergoing a great metamorphosis by 1921. Ramdas left his home and his wife and his children in order to live the life of a sadhu, unconcerned about where he was going or what would happen, living every moment with the Ram Mantra continually on his lips and in the Love of God in his heart.
      He visits Sri Aurobindo in Pondicherry. Visit of Sri Ramana Maharshi affect him so strongly, that Swami stay for several weeks in a cave on the holy Arunachala. In 1931 is built up Ananda ashram v Kanhangadu, Kerala. There he lived together with realised Mother Krishnabai. In 1950s they took a journey and spread message of the God love around the world.
